• day 18 & 19

We are on a birdhouse break! After working (our hands to the bone) for 17 days straight we figured it was time to go on a staycation. David and I were supposed to go to San Diego for 2 weeks starting July 11, but obviously that didn't happen. We were very hopeful that we would get over there eventually for a break. However, we decided we'd rather stay in town and get more bang for our buck (so to speak) without having to drive over and back for half a day.

We started out our Sunday sleeping in. Then headed over to Sauce in Scottsdale. After eating we visited David's grandma Mary for a bit. Then we checked into Hotel Valley Ho. We got a stellar deal on Expedia and wanted to come back over here to enjoy the amenities. The last time we stayed here was for our wedding so we were a bit preoccupied with other things than enjoying the pool, etc.

We booked a King size studio room with the bathtub in the corner of the room. Super cute and right down the walkway from our Terrace Suite we had for our wedding night! Got our things situated and then headed down to the pool. It wasn't as crazy as a typical Saturday at the pool here at the hotel but still lots of action. (Most of which I can't write about here!)

Left the pool after a few hours to get ready for dinner at Trader Vics. I had never been there- pretty good! We started with an appetizer of crab rangoon and some fruity cocktails- yummy. I had the chicken breast dinner and David had pork tenderloin. Both dishes were delicious.

Walked back across the parking lot to the hotel and watched a bunch of t.v. Since the digital switch (and working on the birdhouse) we haven't watched any t.v. in a month or so! It was nice to chill in our room, not worry about our birdhouse to-do list, and catch up on random shows!
In the morning we ordered room service breakfast- a first for both of us! Then it was off to see Transformers 2 at Fashion Square Mall. Lunch at Oregano's and an afternoon at the hotel pool. Ahh, the life! Tomorrow it's time to get up early once more and head back to the birdhouse for work, work, work.
