Here's the original kitchen. We definitely were not loving the ceiling fan in the kitchen (who does that?!) and the upper cabinets hanging from the ceiling made the kitchen feel tiny.
We started tearing down the upper cabinets first, then the countertops. They were not easy to take down!
A few hours later and all the cabinets were long-gone!
My dad showed up and got right to work- sawing holes in the soffits to make sure they could actually come out! We found out right away that the soffit between the dining and living room was not coming out- drainage pipes and water pipes were in the way and could not be moved!
Mike and Amanda stopped by to take a look at our new place. Mike just couldn't resist getting on a ladder and helping out! Both Mike and my dad were super sweaty by the end but we had our soffit-less kitchen!
Items that were in the soffit now have to be moved up into the joists so new drywall can be installed. That's slated for day 3!
