Our first priority upstairs has been the master bedroom and bathroom. David had finished running the electrical and patching holes in two rooms the day before. But, we still needed to install our recessed lighting cans. In the kitchen the entire ceiling was off so we could use "new construction" cans. Our bedroom, however, was a different story! These cans would be "remodel insulated ceiling" rated. These particular cans are made to sit right next to insulation and you only have to cut the hole about the same size as the can. Below the ceiling you connect the electrical wire hanging down from your ceiling to the wiring inside the attached electrical box, close it up, and stick the box part in the hole first then push the can up into the ceiling. The can has some "legs" that you push up and out that hold everything up in the ceiling. Not too hard once you get the hang of it! As soon as we were done with the recessed lighting George mudded the entire ceiling to get it ready for texture.
Tom (and his son) came over to start the tile work. First he had to cut open the green-board on the shower wall to make sure the pipes and shower pan currently in the bathroom wasn't leaking. There was lots of noise going on upstairs today!
George worked on mudding the master ceiling, Tom worked on the master bathroom, and David worked on cutting the holes for the ceiling fans going in the other two rooms upstairs. As I listened to the noises above I worked on painting the top edge of the wall green. It took forever but looked great when it was finished. Tomorrow the edge and all the walls will get a second coat of green.
Today was the first day we left the birdhouse while there was still "workable light"! David and I finished stringing the electrical through the ceiling joists and down the wall to the outlet. Tomorrow David will patch the holes for George.
We left early today because Tom (our tile guy) needed us to get our tile so he would be ready to go. We had some nice ceramic picked out but changed our minds and decided to go with 18" x 18" travertine. Floor and Decor (Elliot and Priest) was having a great sale! Not only did we buy our tile but also our laminate wood flooring. Thankfully we didn't have to take it all at once! The wood flooring is waiting for pick-up but we took the tile with us. David's car was certainly lower with the 74 tiles in the back.
