• day 16

We started out today scraping the texture off the cement floor downstairs. Tom, the tile guy, worked upstairs on our shower. He had finished putting the wonderboard down on the floor and in the shower. Today he started out putting the travertine on the shower walls.

David bought different blades for our hand scraper. They don't fit quite as well so we've been putting two in blades in. David was tightening the screw that holds the blades in when it slipped a bit. Below is the end result.

We took a bit of a break to get David a bandage and some TLC.
A few days ago we switched out the old beige outlets and light switches for new white ones. After we changed the switches out we checked to see if they worked- they did! So, we changed out the outlets. After we finished, the lights didn't turn on anymore. Crap! We've been working backward to figure out what isn't working. Today we found it! One of the outlets that is daisy-chained with the lights was the issue. We took it out of the electrical box and found that the white wire had broken off from the back of the outlet. David and I switched it out and suddenly everything worked once more! Hooray!

At the end of the work day our shower looked like this! The small pieces of tile about 3/4 of the way up are spacers for now. Tom will take those out tomorrow and put in the small border that we bought.
